Newlink consultants have been working with Leopoldo Lopez, his wife, Lilian Tintori, and the leaders of his party, Voluntad Popular, and have transformed his standing in Venezuela into that of the leader of the fight to restore multi-party democracy.
Leonel Fernández
Newlink developed an orbital strategy with Dominican Republic’s Leonel Fernandez that helped secure a series of electoral victories for both him and his Dominican Liberation Party, better known by its Spanish acronym, the PLD. Fernandez was first elected president in 2004. Two years later, the PLD won 22 seats in the senate, up from just one. Fernandez was reelected in 2008; in the 2010 elections, his party achieved a majority in both chambers of Congress. The PLD then held on to the presidency with the 2012 election of Danilo Medina as Fernandez’ successor.
Rubén Costas
The strategic work performed by Newlink for Ruben Costas not only helped the Bolivian leader become the first governor of Santa Cruz, it contributed to the success of referenda in the departments of Santa Cruz, Beni, Pando and Tarija. Today, Mr. Costas is unquestionably the new leader of Bolivia’s opposition.
Carlos Morales Troncoso
Newlink developed an orbital strategy for Carlos Morales Troncoso, at the time serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, which helped increase public support for his Social Christian Reformist Party to six percent. Troncoso put this political capital to use when he backed Danilo Medina, the Dominican Liberation Party, for president, helping the then-candidate secure a victory in the first round of voting.
Carlos Gaviria Diaz
The orbital strategy presented and developed by Newlink in conjunction with then-candidate Carlos Gaviria Diaz in 2006 helped fuel a dramatic shift for his Polo Democratico party. From an initial voter-intention share of just four percent, the party emerged as Colombia’s number-two political force, garnering 22 percent of votes cast on election day.
Juan Manuel Santos
The implementation of Newlink’s Segunda Opinion (Second Opinion) program helped Juan Manuel Santos, then the Partido de la U presidential candidate, present Colombians with his plans for a national unity government. That proposal helped him win the 2010 race and Santos has enjoyed majority political support throughout his term.
Manlio Fabio Beltrones
Newlink’s relationship with the current president of Mexico’s Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Manlio Fabrio Beltrones, dates to 2012. In 2015, the agency’s political team developed a Segunda Opinion program for the gubernatorial race in Beltrones’ home state of Sonora, which contributed to the victory of PRI candidate Claudia Pavlovich.
Guillermo Lasso
Newlink has developed Posicionamiento Estrategico (Strategic Positioning) program for Guillermo Lasso, leader of Ecuador’s Creo party. This is helping him to establish and elevate his national profile as a leader of the opposition in anticipation of a presidential run in 2017.
José Ascensión “Chon” Orihuela
The orbital strategy for the Institutional Revolutionary Party (the PRI in Spanish) candidate for governor in the Mexican State of Michoacan helped increase “Chon” Orihuela’s standing in the polls by 18 percentage points in just one month. The PRI ultimately won a significant number of seats in the state legislature.
José Ignacio “Nacho” Peralta
Thanks to Newlink’s strategy and the dedication of its consultants, Jose Ignacio “Nacho” Peralta won the tight race for governor in the Mexican state of Colima.
